UPDATE!

OH how time flies when you're ...... doing nothing. Lots has changed in the month and a half I've let this blog languish, and you might think that means lots has been done, decided and accomplished. Well, you'd be mostly wrong. But here are a few things that have happened:

1. Jake left St. Thomas on a boat! ... then it started sinking and they came back.

2. I left St. Thomas on a plane!

3. My brother got married in Jamaica! Lots of snorkeling, lionfish, ganjaImeanlocalflora ... we all got sick. We're blaming the water.

4. I gathered all (ok, well, a lot of) our scattered, stored belongings in hopes of setting up our lives

5. The 4th of July approached and along with it, Jake approached Charleston, with fireworks to welcome the ocean-weary crews to the mainland!

Scurfing, yes, in the middle of the ocean

6. I drove down to SC to meet up with my hubby as well as recent Savannah transplant, cousin Jessie!

Charleston is cooool

7. Back up to Baltimore to hang out for a few days, then on to Pittsburgh for a whirlwind weekend of unsuccessful apartment hunting (although we did get to hang out with buddies)!

8. Aaannnddd back to Baltimore. Limbo. Lots of Industry Night (though we're stretching the industry in when we're actually unemployed), outdoor movies, baseball games and money liquidation.

could've been a great game... go O's!

movie night madness

We've got to get this life show on the road!

these are a few of my favorite things:

Dole frozen mango chunks + homemade vanilla maple yogurt (from my Waring Pro!)
+ Magic Bullet (must get one!) = delicious smoothies every day!

clean and simple in the city

The Selby featured a gorgeous house this week:

Artists and designers Lyndsay Caleo and Fitzhugh Karol's Brooklyn home is inspiration right up my alley - clean white with warm wood and antique found objects make a cozy but minimalistic interior that I am loving!

I'm even enthralled with their (what I think is IKEA) medicine cabinet and above-comode toilet paper array! Check out the post over at The Selby for many more pictures!

And if their stuffed-animal of a dog goes missing soon, don't look in my apartment because I definitely DID NOT steal him!

ch-ch-ch-CHANGES!

I just can't stop singing it! But since my last post about the ridiculousness of flight-prices and the difficulty of getting from st. thomas to jamaica (and it's still stupid) a lot has changed! In short, our entire move-home timetable has been pushed up by about a month! Now, instead of leaving stt in July and having to work out how to get to jamaica and back and eventually home, it's all happening right now and much more simply... sorta.

Jake is going to be leaving stt by boat. He's sailing two farr40s up to s. carolina two separate times beginning next weekend. Super exciting for him and I'm super jealous. But he's missing the wedding.

I'm leaving by aeroplane on the 17th. So soon! Sad to be leaving all our friends and work, but excited to fly to jamaica on the same (much cheaper) flights with two of my siblings! And then, I'll be home a month ahead of our previous schedule with much more time to look at apartments and jobs in:

PITTSBURGH!
THE NEXT BIG ADVENTURE

ridiculous

my brother is getting married in jamaica at the end of the month and i have procrastinated booking our flights because it is SO FREAKIN RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE to fly there from STT that i just couldn't do it! i'm talking $700rt/person!! we are already IN the caribbean for pete's sake!

i can literally fly to DC, fly round trip from there to jamaica and back and then fly back to st. thomas and back home in july for the price of one round trip ticket STT-MBJ. that is 5 flights for the price of 2. SERIOUSLY?! seriously.

and that may be what i do.

we just wanna go here ;(

unexpected day off

and aren't those just the best kind?! and it is because Oasis, ie. the Ass of the Seas is not coming into port today so we don't have two full trips of the stupidest tourists to float around the Caribbean!

none of this shit today, thank god!

to do today:
  • straighten this hot mess we call a bedroom in anticipation of visitors tomorrow (yes, more! yay!)
  • get more water since the cistern still tastes a little *off* - may be the coki frogs and cucarachas? mmm!
  • surf teh internets for tickets to jamaica under $600RT per freakin' person, for christ's sake!
  • share this gorgeous short film by ben briand, found on gypsy*diaries and watched in the quiet of midnight last night. enjoy!!
